Wendy Ann Bannerman
December 19, 1959 – January 9, 2025
Wendy Ann Bannerman, 65, of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on January 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on December 19, 1959, Wendy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Wendy began her career as a beautician after attending beauty school in her twenties, but her true passion was her family. As a stay-at-home mom, she devoted herself to raising her two daughters, Nicole and Lindsey, providing them with a loving and nurturing home. Wendy’s love for her family was unwavering, and she found joy in spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.
Her green thumb was evident in the beautiful garden she tended to each year, where she lovingly planted flowers with her grandchildren, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Wendy also worked as a nanny, a role she cherished, and as her grandchildren grew, she cared for them with the same love and dedication she had shown her daughters.
In recent years, Wendy worked at a local bakery, where she enjoyed baking treats for her family and friends, always bringing joy to those around her with her delicious creations.
Wendy was married to her beloved husband, Don Bannerman, for 44 years. She is survived by her husband; daughters, Nicole Welch and Lindsey Bannerman; son-in-law Dustin Welch; grandchildren, Hannah Grace Welch and William Welch; her mother, Carol DalBianco; stepfather, Chester DalBianco; brother, Robert James; and many extended family members and friends; and her adored grand pups. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert James.
A celebration of Wendy’s life will be held at a date to be determined in the late spring. In place of flowers, Wendy would have loved for her friends and family to plant a tree or flowers in her memory, honoring the beauty and love she brought to the world.
Wendy’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported them during this time. Her love, warmth, and kindness will be remembered always.
I carry your heart with me
by E.E. Cummings
I carry your heart with me (I carry it in
my heart) I am never without it
anywhere I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling
I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet)
I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart(I carry it in my heart)
