Steven Ney, age 73, of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away on June 29, 2026.
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Steven built a life rooted in hard work, family, and
simple joys. He dedicated many years of his career to Central Steel and Wire, where he was
known for his strong work ethic and steady presence.
Steven found happiness in the everyday moments—especially time spent with his beloved
breakfast club, enjoying the outdoors, and being surrounded by nature. A devoted sports
fan, he was a loyal supporter of the Green Bay Packers, Chicago White Sox, and Chicago
Blackhawks, and he especially enjoyed good-natured banter over the Bears and Packers
with family.
Above all, Steven cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Debra Ney;
Loving Father of Michelle (Henry) Otero and Daniel (Deanna) Ney, and his cherished
granddaughter, Cassidy Otero, and her fiancé, Joe Arndt. Dear brother of Monica Ney.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Anne Ney.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, including his beloved dog, Bailey, who
brought him constant companionship and joy.
A celebration of Steven’s life will be held August 30, 2026 at the American Legion Post
1941, 900 LaGrange Rd, LaGrange, IL 60525 1PM – 4PM.
