Age 58, of Valparaiso, Indiana, passed away at Franciscan Health in Crown Point.

Born in Chicago, “Scooter” was the beloved son of Mary Celeste (late William Murray) Zubek and the late Stanley (Terri) Zubek.

Stanley was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Anne Zubek; and dedicated father to his three beautiful children – Stanley, Katie, and Savannah Zubek.

Also left to cherish those precious “golden moments” are his sisters; Mary Fran (late Keith) Niemann and Suzanne (Richard) Klepfer.

Stanley is also survived by his mother-in-law Diane (late Tom) Gaal; father-in-law Frank (Karen) Ziolkowski; sister-in-law Dawn (Bobby) Brinkley; brother-in-law Matt Ziolkowski; nieces and nephews Kristen Klepfer, Erin (Rick) Weiss, Jeffrey (Chelsea) Niemann, Parker (Lauren Catrone) Niemann, Sammie Moore, and Jake Moore; great uncle to Dylan, Gavin, and Payton Weiss.

Stanley was preceded in death by his grandparents; William and Mary Mercedes Charney, and Joseph and Rose Marie Radolak.

Stanley was a loyal and fierce friend to many and this loss leaves an enormous hole in all of our lives.

The family would like to send a very special thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at Franciscan Health for the care and compassion shown to Stanley and our family throughout this journey.

A celebration of Stanley’s life will be planned in the near future, when we will gather to share our memories and stories of how this incredible man made an impact in our own lives. Our hearts are broken. He was a true gift.

Anne and family, saw Judi at the salon today and she told me about Stan. Having so many losses in my own life, I wanted to let you know to hang in there, will get better/easier with time.

Dear Anne, kids and family- I worked with Stan (I always called him Stanley) back in the day at the Chili’s in Merrillville. He was my manager, and the best one at that. I’m not just saying that. He showed me such grace and kindness, in his dry-sense-of-humor, sarcastic way. I always looked forward to seeing him at the Chilis’s in Valpo many years later. My dad, Steve Reuter, really liked him too. I was shocked to hear of his passing and am just so, so sorry for your loss. Anne, when he talked about you, there was always a noticeable sparkle in his eye. And when he talked of becoming a father for the first time, oh boy, I could tell he was both beyond belief and so scared haha. He did great, I have no doubt. He loved you so, though wouldn’t say it to his mere employees like me, but we knew ;) He truly helped make my Chili’s experience the wonderful one it was; and I’m sad knowing this world has lost him. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Stan was a great man and manager. I would not be the person I am today without his guidance. I have so many memories of him too many to list. One that sticks out is when I had my major back surgery and he came to visit me in the hospital in Chicago. He will be missed

I’m so incredibly sorry for the family’s loss. I worked with Stan for 4 years at Chili’s and he was such a great boss! He was always a team player and believed in his staff! He pushed us to always be better. I will never forget seeing him drive that silver huge truck that he loved! Lifting the family in prayer during this difficult time.

My sincerest condolences. He and I were friends with tons of sarcasm and banter. if there is a celebration of life ceremony or wake I'd like to attend. Along with many others of us from the Chili's days

Stanley was an amazing influence in my early adulthood. He was there during some of my darkest days and celebrated my best moments. I will never forget his big heart and his dedication to his friends and family. Gone too soon. Prayers.

So Sorry for your families loss

When I lived in Griffith about 15 years ago our subdivision was hit with a tornado. We had no power for 2 days. Stan drove out from Valpo and hooked up his generator so we would have electricity and our kids could have light and hot water to get ready for school. He was a very generous person. On the lighter side, he told me about 12 years ago that if the Cubs ever made it to the World Series he would work for me so I could see the games. I reminded him of that in the fall of 2016 and he was ready and willing to make true on the promise. I had taken vacation during that time so he was off the hook. He was a man of his word as well. I will miss you "Stan the Man Unusual", as I referred to him, you were a loyal friend and a true restaurant world mentor

“When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure” So glad that Stan became part of our family more than 23 years ago. When both came to Georgia for a visit little did Anne know Stan would propose to her in the beautiful mountains. Romantic at heart. He will not be forgotten as his legacy lives on in his 3 children. Each one carry’s apart of him and they will treasure all the memories in their hearts and everything they learned from him. God rest his soul and God bless all his family.
