Salvatore A. “Sonny” Tosto Jr., age 90, most recently of Chesterton, Indiana, passed away peacefully, with his beloved wife at his side, at 4:42 a.m. on July 4, 2022.
Sonny was born in Boston, MA on March 17, 1932, to Salvatore and Rose (nee:Cocchiara) Tosto Sr.
Sonny was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. Serving as an Airman first Class, he was honorably discharged in February of 1953. The following year, Sonny married the love of his life, Theresa Landry, on September 4, 1954 in Shirley, MA. He was a retired hair stylist and loved coaching soccer, camping, and ceramics.
Sonny is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 67 years, Theresa of Chesterton; son, Salvatore (Scott) Tosto III of Santa Cruz, CA; daughters: Corinne (Jerry) Kallman of Cary, NC, Sandra (Jeffrey) Cain of Portage, IN, Cindy Morgan of Holbrook, MA, and Linda (Mark) Svizzero of Holbrook, MA; brother, Paul (Elaine) Tosto of Medford, MA; sister, Ann Nocera of Sachse, TX; 11 grandchildren: Marion Dausses, Jaimie Tosto, Theresa Fanney, Peter Kallman, Kevin Kallman, Cassandra Cain, Brittani Lynch, Angelina Morgan, Sierra Linares, Anthony Svizzero, Michael Svizzero; 7 great-grandchildren: Connor & Matthew Dausses, Sammie & Josie Fanney, Michael Kallman, Olivia Cain, Kaizley Lynch; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Sonny will be missed by all who knew him.
Sonny is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eugene and sister, Grace Fratto.
Per Sonny’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in the art room at Symphony of Chesterton, 2775 Village Point, Chesterton, IN on July 22, 2022 at 10AM. Service will be officiated by Father Thomas Landry.
