Rickey Wayne Thompson age 75 of Portage, IN passed away Saturday March 30, 2024. He was born June 16, 1948 in Hartselle, Alabama to John and Lurlene (Collins) Thompson.
Rickey was married to his beautiful wife Veronica Ione (Koen) Thompson on July 22, 1972 until her passing in January 2005. Rickey was a great Dad, Grandpa, and Papa who loved and cherished his family and dog Little Bit. He was an SAL member at the American Legion Post #260 where he loved to play horse races, bar bingo, poker and socialize with his friends.
Rickey is survived by his four children Sheri Thompson of Fridley, MN, Melanie Boling (Conrad Danielewicz) of Hobart, IN, Michael (Kelly) Thompson of Portage, IN, and Christy (Allen) Neyhart of Portage, IN. 14 Grandchildren Jessica, Tyler, Tristen, Ruby, Christopher, Ashley, Trevor, Alexis, Lillian, John, Nick, Diana, Piper, and Max. 9 Great Grandchildren Stella, Silas, Dallas, Juelz, Keilyonna, Jermerrion, Lacya, Elijah, and Chelsea. Brother in law Rick (Jane) Koen.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Veronica Thompson, parents John and Lurlene Thompson, sister Shelia Sluis, mother in law Patricia Kelly, father in laws Richard Koen and Raymond Kelly.
A Celebration of Life will take place on April 13, 2024 from 2-6pm at the American Legion Post #260 5675 Mulberry Ave Portage, IN 46368. Cremation Services were entrusted to South Shore Cremation Services.
