Michael Allen Doeing

October 16, 1961 - July 7, 2021

Michael Allen Doeing, 59, of Gary, Indiana passed Wednesday, July 7, 2021 after a short illness with his family at his side.

He was born on October 16, 1961 in Gary, Indiana to Patrick Doeing and Norma Olvera. Michael attended Merrillville Schools and still remains great friends with many classmates. He was a lifelong auto diesel mechanic and a factory worker at Owens Kimble Glass.

He especially loved fishing and traveling to Minnesota to fish with his Dad prior to his passing and his Brothers and Nephews. He was looking forward to his September fishing trip. His Sundays were spent at his Mom and Fausto’s house cheering on the Bears during football season and cheering on the Cubs during baseball season. Win or lose he was a diehard fan and you would never see Michael without his leather bears coat.

He is survived by his daughter, Angela Doeing; grandchildren, Kathlynn Luehrs, Taylah Doeing and Xavier Doeing; parents, Norma (Fausto) Olvera and Sarah Doeing; siblings, John (Susan) Doeing, Bobby Doeing, Patty (John) Hamilton, Ray (Cathy) Doeing, Sheri (Scott) Reed, Wanda (Jeff) Baerga, David (Laura) Rivera, Bobby (Nicole) Hamilton, and Cheri Hamilton; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, cousins, his best friend who he referred to as Mexican Mike and many other friends. He was preceded in death by father, Patrick Doeing; sister, Valerie Hamilton; sister in law, Linda Doeing; nephews, Patrick Doeing and Troy Carrol; and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Michael had a heart of gold and even though he was not a wealthy man, he would give you the shirt off his back, shoes off his feet and the last dollar in his pocket. Michael always made sure that his family and friends knew that he loved them and he told hem often. Deep down, Michael was a momma’s boy. Even though she made him mad sometimes, he would always check up on her and called her every couple of days. She was very special to him.

A memorial will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10:00 am at Living Grace Church in Merrillville, Indiana. Pastor Chad Cook will officiate. Michael’s family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00 am at the church and refreshments and fellowship will immediately follow after service.

Me and my mom Carol Hoyne just found out about Michaels passing..We are so very sad to hear...Michael will always hold a very special place in our hearts..He had a heart of gold .We shared many good times with Michael..So sad we lost touch over the years..He was a good friend to us and many...RiP.Michael..❤️Laura and Carol

My deepest condolences to the Doeing family. I have known Mike practically my whole life. I was in the same grade that Ray-Ray was in and through him I meet Michael at an early age 6-7. Around age 13, Michael, Gary Balch, Pete Jarrell, Dennis Szymaszek and I hung around together for a couple of years. We was a little group with our Levi vest, just cut the sleeves off of our jackets, thinking we was a gang. One day does come to mind often, we went to the crossroad theater to see the first Rocky movie in 76', I believe it was Mike, Gary, Pete, my brother Eric and myself. I remember after the movie walking out and into the parking lot we all started boxing each other, being ornery teenage boys, people thought we were crazy kids. But it was Rocky, and we was really good friends having a great time. But as life goes, we slowly drift apart, lose contact but have good memories and in our hearts we are still them 13 year old kids, being friends and caring about each other. Mike always did have a smile on his face and was just a great guy and great friend to have. He would give you the shirt off of his back, the shoes off of his feet and the dollar out of his pocket, I could not have said that any better to tell you what kind of man he was. I am really grateful to have known him and been able to spend some time of my life with him. I will think of him often, regret that I didn't get back in contact with him just to say Hi, how have you been, been awhile, what you been up to. Man I have missed you. Rest in peace my friend.
