Matthew Tirpak

Date of Death: January 14, 2021

Matt passed away on Thursday, January 14th, 2021 after a courageous battle with a traumatic brain injury he sustained in 2016. Son of the late Joseph and Dorothy. Husband to Michelle, Stepfather to Jacob Ferguson and daughter in law Jamie (Muzika) Ferguson. “Doggy Dad” to his favorite girl, Saffy. Matt had a tremendous sense of humor, was a great friend and had many lifelong friends that were very important to him. Once you met Matt, you would always remember him. He donated his time through the years to Big Brothers, volunteered to teach kids about sailing which he loved so much, he loved the outdoors and loved anything that had to do with green energy which was one of his passions. A celebration of life service to be announced at a later date.

I miss you Matt.

I was very sorry to hear about the loss of Matt. Matt’s parents and my father were friends and, after his father died, he and the remainder of his immediate family sat at my family’s holiday table in Riverdale for a couple of years. Matt was quiet but nice then. My favorite memory actually occurred later. He was a high school senior when I was a freshman, and when he saw me in the crowded hallway that first week (I, a scared first year), he gave me a very warm and reassuring smile, which I really appreciated. I was glad to read that he was a part of the green energy movement - part of the solution for our world! My sincere condolences to his family.

You are truly missed my friend. I'm glad you reached out to me for the last couple years. I dreamt about you last night it makes me so sad to know you're gone. Thank you for being a part of my life.
