Kimberly Grace “Kim” Aiello (née Potzler), age 69, passed away on October 29, 2025, in Saint John, Indiana after battling cancer for 3-1/2 months. Born on September 13, 1956, in Logansport, Indiana, her childhood memories were anchored on her grandfather’s farm in Plymouth, Indiana where she spent summer days playing with her many cousins, and Christmases cutting down just the right tree for the holidays. Kim lived a vibrant and fulfilling life marked by love, kindness, creativity, and an unwavering dedication to her family, friends, students and neighbors.
Kim was a devoted wife and equal partner to her husband Bart, and the proud mother of Daniel, Christopher, and Alexis. She was the glue that held her family together, and the loving hand that guided it. She was as fierce as a mama bear. She embraced her daughters-in-laws, Vickie and Ashley, and found immense joy in being a grandmother to Devin, Gianna, Arden, Roman, and Ainsley. Her love for her family was boundless, and her happiest moments were those spent surrounded by them, especially her grandchildren, who brought light to her days.
She will forever be lovingly remembered by her siblings and many nieces and nephews. Kim’s life was enriched by deep familial bonds that extended across generations. Though she experienced the loss of many cherished love ones—her parents Norma (Pat) and David; her in-laws Connie and Lou; siblings Debbie, Danette, and Robert; and several aunts, uncles, and beloved friends—in her heart she carried fond memories of them all.
With a 20+ year career as a 6th and 5th grade teacher at Winfield and Jerry Ross elementary schools, Kim dedicated herself to shaping young minds. While maintaining high expectations of her students, she had the extraordinary gift of connecting with children, helping them discover the joy of learning and pushing them to achieve their very best. Her classroom was more than just a place of instruction—it was a space where young minds were nurtured with patience, encouragement, and inspiration. Her passion for teaching left an indelible mark on hundreds of students whose lives she touched over the years.
Outside the classroom, Kim expressed her creativity through sewing. An exceptional seamstress, she crafted beautiful dresses, including her own wedding gown and the dresses of her six bridesmaids. Her handmade treasures included Christmas stockings, tree skirts, and other works that will be cherished for generations. Kim’s talents extended to cross-stitching and ceramics—each piece reflecting the care and artistry she poured into everything she did. Her magnum opus was her hand-painted ceramic village of 30 buildings and 50 other pieces.
Kim found great happiness in time spent with friends. Whether sharing laughter over tea or making memories on trips with Bart and their close companions, these treasured moments added joy and richness to her life.
To all who knew her—as wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend or teacher—Kim’s love and generous spirit were constant and unconditional. She gave freely of herself to support others in times of hardship and celebration alike. Her warmth and kindness radiated through each and every relationship.
Kimberly Grace Aiello will be profoundly missed by all whose lives she touched. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her, and her inexhaustible spirit continue to inspire acts of compassion and joy in the world she leaves behind.
