John Anthony Berg

John Anthony Berg May 1, 1988 – April 23, 2026.

John was born on May 1, 1988 in Hammond Indiana to Shawn and Marsha Berg. John was preceded in death by sister Tammy Berg and mother Marsha Berg (Hager). John will be remembered by father Shawn Berg and siblings Crystal Berg, Wendy (Mike) Triana, Daniel (Lindsey) Berg, Randy Berg, and Jessica Berg as well as nieces and nephews Paige, Dylan, Aurora, and Ethan.
John was a charismatic young man that could make a friend in any situation. This trait was evident early on when even in preschool the little girls would argue over who got to nap next to him. This carried with him as he grew and in high school John was a social butterfly. Known for always having a brightly colored mohawk, he joined the school marching band where he was able to combine his love of music with his love of goofing off and making people smile. John’s passion was music. He was able to learn various instruments with ease, including teaching himself how to play guitar. Starting out on his dad’s old acoustic, he quickly progressed to the red electric guitar that he loved.
His room was covered with various posters showing off his tastes and CD’s that were always playing. John never had a shortage of friends growing up that was evident by the desk he had that his friends would sign and write messages on. As John got older he realized he had a passion for cooking which led him to his career where he worked in management at various restaurants. In his spare time John enjoyed watching anime and playing video games. His favorite was Final Fantasy and he even had a chocobo tattoo. He also really enjoyed going to concerts, his favorite being Tech nine. John was able to enjoy a final show just months before his passing.
