James William Smith “Buddy” 71 passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. Jim was from Belton, Kentucky and always wanted to make it back to the South. After serving our county as a medic overseas, he came to reside in Indiana to raise his “brat kids” as he called us. He most recently resided in LaCrosse and Wheatfield where he enjoyed playing soccer with Jaxon, his grandson, looking for women to flirt with, and talking with anyone who made time for him.

He had a heart of gold and would go to great lengths to help anyone out. He also enjoyed pulling pranks on people, especially his grandkids when they least expected it.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Courtney Smith.

He is survived by his remaining children: Jason Smith, Shaney (Brandon) Pletka, Anthony (Becky) Smith, Lyndsay (Thomas) McClure, and Craig Smith. He leaves behind many grand kids and great grand kids as well. Dad would want his Nephew Mark Allen Seaton of Owensboro to not be forgotten. He loved you and was looking forward to making it back to your house for a visit.

Dad – I found your cookies and beef jerky you hid under the bed…got one over on me one last time.

I feel very sad leave for the family but I’ve known Jim buddy very long time used to go up to Zolie and Kay Smith’s house and we would fish in the little pond. We had wonderful times. Life was simpler then. RIP Buddy
