James Leo Baber, age 76, of Michigan City, IN, departed this life on Friday, May 6, 2022.
Cremation has taken place and ashes will be interred in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru, Indiana.
Jim was born on April 29, 1946 in Peru, Indiana to the late William G. and Alice (Borneman) Baber and lived in Michigan City since 1988 coming from Peru.
On August 10, 1989, he married Penny S. (Friend) Baber.
He graduated from Peru High School in 1964 and was a member if St. Charles Catholic Church. Jim served on the Peru City Council from 1978 to 1989, serving as chairman five of those years.
He is survived by his wife, Penny; two step-sons, Michael (Vicky) Raymer of Michigan City and Steven (Ronda) Raymer of Largo, Florida; four step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Nicholas Baber; sister, Barbara (Baber) See; brother, William G. Baber Jr.; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Although he will be sadly missed by his family, he is where he wanted to be… with his son, Nick.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington Street, Michigan City, IN 46360.
