On August 22, 2021, George Miller peacefully passed away with his family by his side. George was born on November 14, 1980 and raised in Hammond, Indiana. He was a graduate of Gavit High School. During his life, George was a hard worker and had great jobs working at Ford, Holland Crane, and US Steel. The highlight of his career life was driving trains for US Steel.
George was a man that knew how to have a good time. He found passion in many things in life including politics, fishing, gardening, and high end fragrance. George loved the Fragrance Brotherhood and had a fragrance collection beyond compare. He loved his dog Lexi, and was met in Heaven by his bulldog, Monty. He was a great cook and made the best stuffed shells. Most important in his life was the love he found with his fiance’ Cathy. They shared many great times and George was so happy with the life they built as a family.
George was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Dora Miller ; father, George Miller; cousin, Steve Raketic; and nephew, Andrew Clark. George was engaged and survived by his loving fiancé’ Cathy Shamblee and his step-children Alyssa and Brandon Shamblee as well as grandson Jacob Shamblee. He is also survived by his grandparents, Tom and Jean Shockey; mother, Paulette Miller, sister Carol (Nate) Fonner; brothers Jim (Rachel) Miller, Bob Miller, Bill (Marisol) Miller and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A celebration of life and remembrance will be on September 15, from 5-10pm. Please join the family and share your best George stories at the Community Center at Lake George in Hobart, 111 East Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN 46342 In lieu of flowers, donations to the family are appreciated.
