Ernie Brunty, 73, of Valparaiso, passed away Jan 8, 2024

Ernie leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Martha Luke.  Daughters, Jennifer Brunty (Alan) of Palmetto, Florida, Wendy Brunty (Mike) of Albuquerque, NM.  Grandson, Alex Brunty of Albuquerque.  Sisters, Denise Floyd of Gary, and Sheryl Henderson (Joe) of Westville.  Nieces, nephews, and many loving in-laws.

While raising his girls, working full time, and attending Indiana University, he decided to build his house, and added to the mix join the bricklayers’ apprenticeship program.  He raised his girls.  He received his Bachelors of Science degree from Indiana University.  He built his house, and became a union bricklayer out of local 4, Bricklayers Union.  He retired after 25 years of service working in the mills.  Upon his retirement at the mill for another 28 years and was manager of shipping at Arcelor Mittal when he retired for the second time in 2022.

Per Ernie request there will be no funeral services.

Memorial Contributions may be directed to: Porter County Veterans Treatment Court, VNA Hospice of Valparaiso, Valparaiso Family YMCA, Opportunity Enterprise, or Porter County Animal Shelter
