Dustin Caughell

Dustin James Caughell, age 34, of Valparaiso, Indiana. He was born on October 19th, 1986 in Albany, Oregon. He was survived by his parents, Jennifer Lynn Caughell and David (Janet) Caughell; siblings: Brittany (Kirk) Kennett, Jacob (Holly) Caughell, Summer Caughell, and Austin Neese and grandparents: Harold and Peggy Caughell.

Dustin was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was an amazingly kind and caring person. Dustin treated everyone with kindness and respect, no matter their background, he accepted everyone for who they were. Dustin was there for the people who knew him and always put their needs above his own. Dustin had many people in his life that were very important to him as he was to us. His life was too short but enriched by the love of all those that had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Dustin will always stand out in my memory as an especially kind, genuine human being.

Dustin, I’m still in shock since I heard of your passing. I know we grew apart over the years, but I still thought of you quite often. The friendship that we had can never be replicated. LOL I remember you getting kicked out of class for cursing and lots of other more inappropriate things. I also remember jamming out to some good music and just chilling, including the time when you got your famous nickname, Caveman. Good times and bad times... I so wish things could be different. I’m thinking of you, and you’ll be dearly missed. I give my deepest condolences to your family. I hope they are all doing well. Take care. Man, I really miss ya.

But why?

Dustin was like one of our kids, helping out and worked for us for several years. Would give the shirt off his back to help out anyone.......our prayers are for Dustin's family. God rest his soul......

Such a horrible loss for the whole family and for his friends as well. I only wish I wouldve been closer to have gotten to know him more. The little boy that I met when he was 6 or 7 yrs old he was sweet tender quiet and loving and alittle chubby ?? absolutely adorable! he loved grandma Shirley's cat ? lol !! Dustin was a Superstar. Too bright for any of us. He was the most kind and generous person you could ever find. He was like a little brother to me and i loved him like one. 17 years ago he saved my life and i owe him everything. He will always be loved. My friend.

I hope you are flying high my friend! I have so many things I want to say, but mostly that you were loved. There were days we would drive each other insane and there were days we would talk for hours. I would be crying over some dumb ass boy and you would tell me what a fool he was. I would tell you I was fat and you would tell me I was beautiful. Thank you for that. It’s funny we would fight over the garbage being taken out and 5 minutes later be laughing about something else. I guess that’s what family is. I’m proud of how far you came after you moved out on ur own. It took a lot of getting used to when you moved. You were missed so much. You have thanked me so many times for letting you live with me, but I’m unsure I ever thanked you for all you did for me. You motivated me to start my catering business and said I could do anything, you helped w the kids and baby Hefner, you mowed the lawn when I made you, haha, you were always there to listen when sometimes I just needed a friend. Thank you for that. I love you and you will be dearly missed my brother from another. Xoxoxoxo
