Clifford Eric Michaelsen, 68, beloved husband of Jolynn (Costabile) Michaelsen of Valparaiso, entered eternal peace on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at home surrounded by his family.

Born In Englewood, New Jersey and raised in Edison, New Jersey, Cliff moved to the Valparaiso area, where he resided for the past 30 years. Besides his wife, Cliff is survived by his son Derek, stepdaughter Melisa Kuehen and her husband Adam, and granddaughter Ryan Mae, Luke Cummings and his wife Ellie, grandson, Torben. He also leaves behind his sister Dawn Michaelsen, sister-in-law Donna Michaelsen, brother-in-law Rory Suomi, and cousins, nieces, and nephews. and his former wife, Sherry Woodruff.

Cliff’s love and dedication to his family and friends were immeasurable. He will be deeply missed by his close friends in Valparaiso, as well as his friends back east: Sandy and Bobby Reeves, Christine Gumieniak, and Bob Nagy.

Cliff was predeceased by his parents; his brother, David Michaelsen; sister-in-law Joanne (Costabile) Suomi; and brothers-in-law Alphonse and Guy Costabile.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, June 28th, at American Legion between 2pm-5pm located on 4 Monroe St. Valparaiso, Indiana.

I have been a friend of Cliff's for close to 50 years! From playing tennis against each other in our youth to watching him build his hacienda and life in Valparaiso with his wife (JoLynn) and son Derrick. I know I will miss him tremendously as will many of the people whose lives he touched in his life. My condolences to his family for their loss. I will miss you Bro!!

Dear JoLynn, Derek, and family, I can’t believe it has been 45 years since I first met the “Bun Man” while working for JoLynn. Life has thrown many ups and downs in our path, but things had finally straightened out, which makes this loss even harder to bear. It truly wasn't his time yet.
