Carol Elaine Berger

January 11, 1945 - August 12, 2024

Carol Elaine Berger (McLeod) passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024.

Preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years Gerald “Jerry” Berger; parents C.R. and Clela; sisters Ila Jean (Ken) Abbott, Barbara (Al) Sutter, Lois (Ray) McLarty, and brother Russ (Clea) McLeod. Survived by her sons Seth (Tina) and Zach (Margie); her grandchildren Chris, Joe, and Dylan; and many nieces and nephews.

Carol was a 1963 graduate of Hammond High School and attended the Chicago Institute of Art. She worked at the BMV in Hammond, as well as, the K-Cafe inside the K-Mart in Griffith, and was a longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Highland where she was a Sunday School Teacher. She liked bowling and played in many leagues with Jerry. And when she wasn’t working with her arts and crafts or reading a good book, she was outside on the front porch with Jerry listening to their Chicago White Sox and chatting with the neighbors. She loved her family and friends and will be missed by all those who knew her.

Private services will be held for the family.

Condolences to the Berger/McLeod families. Aunt Carol was a fantastic lady, and as smart as my step dad Russ McLeod was, I believe Carol and sister Barbara will be taking turns beating Russ in trivia in heaven. They were all unbelievably smart for sure!
