Ty Austin Haskins, 23, of Valparaiso, IN, passed away unexpectedly on June 5, 2025.

Ty was an enthusiastic golfer, fisherman, and wrestler from a young age. He loved attending comic conventions and enjoyed exploring new hobbies such as skateboarding and magic. Ty had a passion for collecting Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, watching anime, and playing Dungeons & Dragons. He also loved spoiling his grandparents’ puppy, Penny, and his parents’ cat, Liberty.

Ty cared deeply for his friends and family and would do anything for anyone.

He is survived by his parents, Amber and Jeremy Schrombeck, and his father, Dean Haskins; rothers: Blayne (Elizabeth) Haskins and Colton Haskins; sister: Lillian Troutner; grandparents: John (Debbie) Reynolds, Sherry Morris, and Kandie (Mick) Shearhod; great-grandparents: Robert (Alice) Keck; aunt: Trinity Reynolds; nephew-to-be: Daniel Ty Haskins; and many more loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Ty was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Hugh (Elizabeth) Gonzales, Wilbur (Glenda) Reynolds, and Dixie Keck; grandfather: Steve Haskins; uncles: Thomas “Tommy” Gonzales and Bryan Schrombeck; cousin: Christopher Gonzales; and aunt: Betty Cottrell.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at Living Hope Church, 9000 Taft St, Merrillville, IN 46410.

Mr. Haskins was my student assistant teacher. Him and I were close during the times he was there. He would always be checking up on me and I would do the same to him. I thought of him as family in my eyes. He always had a smile on his face no matter what. RIP Mr. Haskins! We all love you!

He was a student teacher for my social studies teacher in 7th grade, he wasn’t there long but he really made an impact. He always had a smile and was a kind person. I know he would have become a good teacher.

Ty Haskins was a student teacher at my school and he was great, He loved metal music like SlipKnot and other bands so me and him got long really well So rest in peace and I'm sorry for his family and friends, God bless you all.

I had Mr. Haskins as a student teacher in my 7th-grade social studies class last year. He was, although a little awkward, very kind to all of my classmates. You could tell he really enjoyed talking to us, and I wish the Haskins family a merry Christmas and my prayers.

Ty was the kindest, funniest, and best big brother any kid could ever have. I’m so grateful that I had him as a big brother. When we were younger, we didn’t really get along. But that did not stop him from being protective of me. As we got older, we got closer each and every day. He is truly missed by me and Blayne, as well as other family members. Ty, we love and miss you so much. You are forever in our hearts, and we will make sure to tell all of the great stories about you to your soon-to-be-nephew, Daniel Ty.🩵

I remember Ty in my engineering classes and precalc in high school and we became good friends. One of my fondest memories with Ty would have to be when we met up the summer after graduation and went to work out at the planet fitness together then went and got bdubs and hung out at his grandparents house for a little bit before he took me home. Unfortunately that was the last time that I saw Ty but we did however keep in touch over TikTok, Facebook messenger and video games, Ty opened me up to a lot and helped me be more sociable and out going. Ty left a lasting impression on me to always treat people with respect and kindness. I’ll miss you Ty, fly high brother

My heart and love go out to you and your family,Ty. I was lucky enough to know and love you since I met you all at Grandma Gonzales' 20+years ago. I still remember your sweet baby smile and your laughter as you and your brother played together and found comfort in your mom's arms and your grandma's lap. You were kind and so loving to your baby sis a little later in life. All the little cousins you played and grew up with are so lucky to have had you in their life. From grandma's Sunday lunches, beach days, airshows, Bbq's, and family hang outs, each day with you in it was special. I'll remember you in every color of the blooming flowers, the warm sun, and each bright star. Rest in eternal love, Ty.

To Ty’s Family: Ty was one of the GENTLEST souls I have ever met. My heart is hurting so badly to hear about this. When I think back about little Ty when he was in school, I can’t help but smile. He was so kind to all the other kids. He never had a mean word to say. He worked so hard, loved his family, looked out for Lily. I’m thinking of you all and praying for your family. ❤️
