Marsha L. Henson, 81, of Valparaiso passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born December 10, 1941 in Aurora, Iowa. She was a 1959 graduate of Aurora Public School. She was employed at McGill Manufacturing Company, Anderson Consulting & Valparaiso University. She was an “Avon lady” for thirty years. Marsha loved to travel and meet new people, visiting Australia, Russia, Denmark, Sweden, France, The Bahamas & Mexico, and many U.S. states. She loved music, with her favorite artists being Elvis, Johnny Mathis, and anything country. On a warm day Marsha could be found on her boat fishing for bluegill and bass. Marsha was devout in her faith and a longtime member of Valparaiso Nazarene Church. Marsha will be remembered for her spunk, legendary “Grandma Marsha Christmas” celebrations, and her unfailing kindness. She was a friend to everyone she met and was committed to helping people however she could. She was known as “Grandma Marsha” to many, with innumerable “honorary grandchildren” whom she loved fiercely. She is survived by her sisters, Sue (Richard) Fowlkes, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Melinda (Gary) Quint of Charles City, Iowa. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sari (Mike) Hogg, Josh (Kelly) Goranson, Kyle (Meghan) Goranson, Nicole (John) Norris, Lindsey Fay, Jason Sliger, and Katie Fay, as well as her great-grandchildren: Trinity Hogg, Gage Hogg, Mikey Hogg, Abel Goranson, Aubrey Goranson, Oliver Meza, Lincoln Goranson, Augustus Norris, Nathan Goranson, Lena Goranson, Arya Meisberger and Jack Norris. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Paul and June Hoaglan, and her grandson, Erich Goranson. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, November 26th from 2pm until 4pm at the Valparaiso Nazarene Church. A service will be held at 4pm with Pastor Shaun Evans (whom she adored) presiding.
