Sally Clapp (Lemley) age 94 of Michigan City, IN passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024 At Miller’s Merry Manor with family at her side.
Sally was born on November 19, 1929 to Paul Lowell and Elizabeth (Wright) Lemley in Highland, Michigan.
Sally is survived by her children, Sally Wolfe, Elizabeth Auble, Thomas Gross, Mary Prater (John), Steve Gross (Viora) and Cheryl Wenzel (Steve), grandchildren, John Prater Jr., Jacob Ginseng, Jaime Prater, Emily Auble, Jennifer Peters, Lizzy Jones, Madelaine Auble, Stephanie Gross (Chris), Tyler Wenzel (Megan), Tamara Gross, and 8 great-grandchildren, George Peters, Charlie Peters, Dorothy Peters, Sebastian Barros, Jack Jones, Franklin Jones, Henry Jones, and Quentin Boren. Sally is preceded in death by her parents and son, Robert “Bobby” Gross.
Sally was a graduate of Tolleston High School and attended IU and studied Political Science and English. She worked in Chicago many years commuting on the South Shore and her favorite job was at the College of American Pathology. After moving to Michigan City, she had lifelong career as a medical transcriptionist. She retired from Memorial Hospital , then went back to work at St. Anthony’s Hospital. She loved her job and continued working out of her home until the age of 88.
Sally was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, attending many games. She enjoyed playing piano and played at the Monday Musicale. She had a love of music especially Rock and Roll and attended 4 Rolling Stones concerts. She loved going to plays, one of her favorites was Phantom of the Opera.
She had lifelong love of cats, enjoyed many special ones, including her beloved Sammie. She will always be remembered as a loving grandmother and was proud of her children and grandchildren.
