Johnny Revelle Smith, age 67, of Merrillville, IN passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Methodist Hospital -Southlake. He was born on October 4, 1957 to Joe and Luvirne (Lipscomb) Smith, who have both preceded him in death.
On February 3, 2009 he married the love of his life, Audrey (Whitt) Smith who survives. He is also survived by his children, Stephanie (Joel) Gragg, Tiara Smith, Johnny (Carol) Smith, and Sabrina Smith; bonus children, Ashlee Moses and Michael Moses; grandchildren, Abrielle and Ariyah Smith; sisters, Artmeice Smith and Brenda (Oscar) Harmon. Johnny is also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph (Sandra) Smith; and sister, Amega (Charlton) Crummie.
“Revelle” symbolized his dedication to Jehovah God on July 30, 2011 and he loved talking about the Bible and Jehovah God’s promises.
Johnny was a former child prodigy. He began playing the guitar at the age of 4 and was simply one of the most talented
musicians in the Chicagoland area. He was an amazingly versatile musician who played lead and bass guitar. He also played the Harmonica. He could play in just
about any style – such as, Jazz, R&B, Blues, Neo-Soul and he was a scat and Blues singer. He has produced and recorded original compositions on albums entitled License to Chill,
Business as Usual, Box Car Full of Blues and Wish I Could Sing.
Johnny touched so many people’s hearts and will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.
