Earl Edward Greer (Rosey), age 75, passed away on July 16th 2024. Earl was born in Chenoa Kentucky April 17th 1949.
Earl is survived by his son Adam Greer, daughter Amy (Mike) Williams, Granddaughter Mika Goin, sister Tex Annetta Lipke (husband Dee Lipke), brother Steve (Shirley) Greer, sister Joey Magiera, sister Mernel Greer and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Earl’s family moved to Palmer, Indiana along with many of his extended family. Earl graduated from Crown Point High School as a Bulldog. He was active in Booster Club, Lettermen’s Club, he enjoyed playing Baseball, Wrestling and Intermural sports.
Earl attended two years at Indiana University seeing that it was not for him. He enlisted in the Army where he served his country as Airborne/Ranger.
Earl had worked 5 years at Nipsco. Most of his working career was with Amico Oil Refinery in Whiting as a Pipefitter until he suffered a serious accident at work.
Earl married Ellen (Lahart) Greer where they raised their two children on Harrington Ave. for 20 years. He was very active with his church of Living Stones and Family Christian Center.
The things Earl enjoyed were his involvement in coaching youth sports in Crown Point. Earl, also known as, “Dog Man” was known for his love and superior knowledge and excellence as a top breeder of Labrador Retrievers, spending much time working with his dogs at the Lake County Fair Grounds. Earl loved making people laugh and was a great story teller. He loved to fish, especially with his son, Adam. He was also member doing charitable work with Ducks Unlimited and the Izaak Walton League.
The last few years were not that great for Earl as he had gotten Long Term Covid. Rest in Peace Earl (Rosey) I’m sure he’s telling jokes in heaven; he will be missed by his family and friends!
A Celebration of Life will be held at Suzie’s Cafe at 1050 Southpoint Circle, Valparaiso, Indiana, just off of US30, on August 18th at 4:00pm.
