Donald Paul “Doc” White, age 73, of Portage, passed away Friday, March 20, 2026 at home.
Donald was born on August 3,1952 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the son of Paul & Anne (Hammond) White. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Constance “Connie” (Stowell), for 52 years. She passed away on March 6, 2022. Donald was a US Army Veteran serving as a cook (MOS 94B20). He later retired from US Steel as a crane operator.
Our dad (Boompa to his grands & great grands) was a stubborn, feisty and funny guy. We all loved his quirkiness, and he will truly be missed. He was an avid pool player, history buff, and kept us guessing with all his stories. He always had to have the last word, so upon his death he wanted to leave two epitaphs behind. The first about himself, “He came, He saw, He said Good Bye”. The second about himself and his wife; “We lived, We loved, We left, We begin again”.
Donald is survived by his: daughter, Cheri (David) Gobin of Colorado; son, Dwayne “Rusty” (Tera) White of Portage; five grandchildren: Anthony Gobin, Courtney (Napu) Cruz, Travis, Madison, & Brady White; and three great grandchildren: Jackson & Hunter Gobin and Fauna Cruz; a brother Dan White of Illinois and a sister Barbara Hopkins of Tennessee; and his beloved cat, Oofty.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Connie; his parents, Paul White and Anne Bishop; and an infant sister, Margaret Lu White.
Per Donald’s wishes, there will be no services.
