Charles J. Cottone, 75, of Porter, Indiana, formerly of South Haven, Michigan, passed away on April 14, 2026. He was born to Joseph and Nancy Cottone on April 28, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois. He attended St. Maurice Grade School, where he graduated in 1964, and later graduated from De La Salle High School in 1968. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in political science from Loyola University, where he also cherished memories of studying abroad in Rome. Charles married Deborah on August 4, 1979, and together they raised two daughters, Natalie and Alyssa. Earlier in life, he worked as a sales and district manager for Prudential Insurance. He later worked at North Shore Elementary in South Haven, Michigan, and most recently at Meijer grocery in Valparaiso, Indiana, and Michigan. He enjoyed being around people, never wanted to retire, and always felt called to serve. He loved listening to the Beatles, cheering for his favorite Chicago teams —White Sox and Bears — and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Nancy Cottone, and his brother-in-law, Lonnie Williams. He is survived by his wife, Deborah; daughters, Natalie (Tim) Cottone and Alyssa Cottone; and two cherished grandchildren, Taven and Ella Decker. He is also survived by his sisters, Josephine Williams and Vivian (Richard) Brueckmann, his brother Dr. Francis X. (Diane) Cottone, and several nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.
